ACE Company Spotlight: Musement

Musement is a one-stop shop for travelers to discover, book and purchase in-destination activities, attractions, city passes and guided tours on the go. Launched in Milan in 2013 and coached by ACE's partners META Group and CapDigital, Musement's growing portfolio of hundreds of international travel activities is available on, Google Play and iOS.

Musement's iOS app featured as "best new app" and "editors' choice".

Musement first heard about ACE through their partners at Italian Angels for Growth. Alessandro Petazzi, Musement's CEO tells us his story within ACE so far: "We participated in ACE-EIG Investment Forum at Futur en Seine Paris, and our experience has been nothing short of incredible. We have selected France as our country of choice and have had the chance to work with two different mentors and consultants who have actively helped us in achieving our growth ambitions in that market. Their advice and consulting has not only helped us to improve our positioning, but also to practically identify, select and contact the most interesting distribution partners." 

When asked about his expectactions for the ACE programme, Alessandro simply says: "I hope we will be able in the future to work with other countries in the same very productive way in which we have worked in France".

The story

Launched in 2013, Musement is a well structured team of former TV & telco professionals, engineers, marketers and travel-enthusiasts with one goal in common – building the best way to make exploring easy for travelers. "We’re based in Milan with contributors all over the world and backed by investors as 360CapitalPartners and Italian Angels for Growth" tells us Alessandro Petazzi, the CEO.

Musement is a multi-platform booking service for in-destination travel activities: museums, guided tours, attractions, art exhibitions and city passes in 25 countries and counting.

Musement's international team works with tour operators to give their offers a higher visibility on its digital platform ( and free iOS and Android mobile apps), ranging from must-see activities to hidden gems.

Musement sells directly to end users on its website and apps (available in English, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Russian) and also B2B2C via travel agencies and tour operators, while it sources its products directly from attractions/venues, DMCs and local guides.

The start-up is also among the few global Authorized Resellers for Expo 2015 in Milan and can distribute Expo tickets to operators around the world.

ACE Company Awarded First Prize at SAPPHIRENOW

The SapphireNow Awards took place in Orlando on 3-5 June as part of SAP’s Global annual conference, bringing together start-ups from a wide range of technology sectors.

Bankhawk Analytics, a Dublin BIC assisted startup, took the top award as the “Most Transformative” company involved with SAP, the world’s largest business software company.

Bankhawk Analytics addresses complexity and information issues in the banking sector via a solution which consolidates large amounts of disparate banking data, enabling companies to better understand and manage their banking activity for optimal financial outcomes.

Bankhawk Analytics is one of the 75+ ACE companies selected to receive customised support from ACE partners to enter new European markets.

ACE Company Spotlight: Inside Visions

ACE Company Inside Visions provides useful analytics to offline businesses about their clients and audience. They convert images into information, like the audience’s gender, age group or how long they look at an ad. Born in Coimbra (Portugal), it is incubated by the ACE Partner IPN. They are now looking for an investment to make it in the UK, where they are already present.

It all started with Miguel Peixoto and an idea. While working at an automotive company, he was sure there had to be a better way to know their lost market than counting visitors manually at the cars’ showroom. After leaving the company, Miguel asked his brother Paulo, a professor at the University of Coimbra specialized in Computer Visions and Automation, if it could be done automatically. With a positive response, he then decided to “take the leap” and “create his own company”, in his own words.

After the required development and optimization of the face detection technology, self-funded by another project in the e-learning sector, the first product was ready to go to the market: Face Click®. Flexible, easy to install and operate, it is tailored specifically to retailers. It ensures greater in-store product adequacy, through the detection of clients’ profiles, by gender and age. Face Click® is a powerful statistical tool with which, through its WEB version, you can easily manage multi-sites with multiple cameras in multiple stores.

The next solution, based in the same technology, is to be applied in advertising – Target Ads® allows adapting the ads displayed on digital screens according to the person that’s looking, in real time. All of these statistics (which ad is more popular, for how long women and men look at it, did anyone smile at it, etc) are then provided to the client.

It was of need to bring this solution to the United Kingdom, where’s a much broader net of digital signage, and the company already received requests from Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Brazil, United Kingdom and the United States. Now, Inside Visions’ CEO  Miguel is focused on raising investment: “You must get to market quickly and, for that, investment is needed".

Inside Visions has recently won the Best Startup Award from “Prémio Caixa Empreender” in Portugal. They hope this distinction brings them the much needed visibility to access international investor networks.

Their experience in ACE

Inside Visions has heard about the ACE programme through ACE Partner IPN - Instituto Pedro Nunes in Portugal. Their ACE Experience has been incredibly positive so far. "We were able to connect with other innovative companies at the ACE Summit, after evaluating which would potentially be the best partners for us in foreign markets", says Miguel Peixoto. The CEO stated that since then, very promising business opportunities have been developed and, in the end, "this is what matters". 

Their expectations for the ACE Programme are that it continues to be a platform that can gather companies at the same stage, with the same goals, and that fit well together.
