Now, if you didn’t understand any of those words, here is simple explanation: INVEA-TECH develops and markets comprehensive network solutions. Still not enough? Watch one of their webinars and learn more about their activities.

If the tech talk isn’t for you, what you really need to know is that INVEA-TECH is a fine example of a hi-tech spin-off with a robust background from academia. With no extra seed funding the company keeps on growing steadily for several years. They are the leader in the flow monitoring & NBA market which is considered by Gartner as the next generation network security trend. INVEA represents the new generation of cybersecurity companies that follow the success of the likes of AVG, AVAST and ESET which scored in the field of antivirus solutions. Solutions offered by INVEA go several steps further monitoring network behaviour and not only the actual infection and intrusion.

In 2007 workers at Masaryk University got together with workers from the Brno University of Technology and CESNET to form INVEA-TECH as a spin-off. Today they are responsible for monitoring more than a third of the internet in the Czech Republic and offer network solutions all over the world to customers like T-Mobile, Siemens or Raiffeisen Bank. Their FlowMon system was commended at the CeBIT fair in Hannover twice. In 2013 INVEA-TECH was recognized among Deloitte CE Technology Fast 50 as one of the 50 fastest growing tech companies in Central Europe.

INVEA-TECH with its headquarters located in Brno, Czech Republic, is deeply connected to the South Moravian Innovation Centre – participating in professional workshops such as ‘120 Seconds’ networking, helping them to find business partners. "We appreciate the opportunities for networking activities and professional consultation at the JIC,” says Jiří Tobola, Business Director of INVEA-TECH. INVEA is a company completely set up by developers and tech guys.

Their ACE Experience

INVEA-TECH was introduced to the ACE Programme by recommendation of the South Moravian Innovation Centre. Since then, they have participated in the ACE Summit and recently signed agreement with ACE Partner bwcon, on support provided for participation in a major IT security expo.

Thanks to ACE project, INVEA-TECH will have an opportunity to prepare well in advance for one of the most important IT security exhibition in the world it-sa that will be held 7 – 9 October 2014 in Exhibition Centre Nuremberg, Germany. They will be provided with support in marketing, PR activities and arrangement of meetings with potential business partners from DACH region.

In the words of  Rostislav Vocilka, CEO: "under ACE we would like to build an effective marketing strategy that would show our potential customers in Germany how they can effectively protect their company´s networks with us. After the NSA espionage leaks the benefit of having a network behaviour analysis and monitoring tool from a company based in Europe is a strategic advantage and we would like ACE to help us to market this unique value proposition especially in Germany".

ACE: One Year After

One year into the Programme there are a lot of results emerging from the ACE Project. Following the programme launch and the open call for candidates, the project is in full swing. To date, 75 companies from across Europe are being supported in gaining access to new European markets by mentors from 12 of Europe’s leading incubators.

Programme Launch

Launched in September 2013, ACE is a tailor-made acceleration programme – the ACE programme - to deliver targeted cross-border services to highly innovative ICT entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs with the potential to rapidly grow their businesses in international markets. Coordinated by the pan-European network of EU Business and Innovation Centres (BICs), EBN, ACE involves 15 partners (leading incubators, clusters, living labs and accelerators) from 11 European countries - UK, Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic).

Support to companies includes, among other services: hands-on assistance in finding partners and clients; living lab validation in other countries; office space; introductions to investors, and; coaching on pitching for transnational investment.

ACE is Selecting!

The ACE call for candidates was opened in December 2013 with the first cut off at 28 February 2014 through the F6S platform. This first round gathered 275+ applications from start-ups and SMEs across Europe, 75 of which are now midway through their tailor-made ACE Programme. The selection process was carried out by the ACE partners, who assessed companies’ innovativeness, international growth potential and motivation and capacity to participate in the programme.

In March 2014, selected companies were assigned an experienced mentor in their own (or nearest ACE partner) country. This ‘local’ mentor analysed their internationalisation strengths and weaknesses, developed an individual internationalisation action plan and designed an internationalisation support team and package of support measures with ACE partners in the companies’ target markets.

ACE Summit

On 29 April 2014, ACE companies, mentors, investors and other potential partners converged at the ACE Summit in Brussels. Attended by over 400 participants, the Summit was the first occasion for the ACE companies, mentors and investors to meet each other and discuss how to work together to take their businesses global.

At the ACE summit, the companies had the opportunity to complete investor readiness training and pitch directly to a panel of cross border investors.  One-to-one meetings were organised for each company in advance with mentors from other countries who provided practical advice on entering new markets from introductions to potential clients to ‘soft landing’ supports.

Internationalisation Action Plans

Following the meetings at the ACE Summit in Brussels, the mentors worked closely with the companies to elaborate their Internationalisation Action Plans. The customised internationalisation support programmes discussed and agreed upon so far include the implementation of some 300 individual support measures on the ground.

The measures implemented are customised for each participating company to address their specific internationalisation goals and challenges, as identified by the participants with the support of their local mentors. Keeping in mind the target audience of early stage ICT companies and their fast-evolving needs and priorities, the programme runs as a flexible and open support scheme.

Next steps

Today the ACE programme is focused on delivering the targeted support to companies already selected. Some spaces remain so if your company is interested in participating please email This email address is being protected from spambots. The autumn and winter will see the roll-out of a calendar of cross-border investment events organised in partnership with the ACE sister initiative European Investor Gate (EIG) such as: investment readiness training, e-pitches and collaboration with other initiatives to bring ACE companies closer to access to finance and investment. Stay tuned to hear more about our companies’ progress. Read some of our success stories here and stay up to date on our partners’ and companies’ activities through our Twitter feed.
